Mountain Biking in Jan?

Well, I decided that I truly have a sickness. Many have told me about my illness for quite sometime and I never listened to them. I recently was diagnosed with D.T.T.M.U.I.R.T. I know it's a long acronym but it is true. D.T.T.M.U.I.R.T stands for -'Don't Talk To Me Unless I Rode Today'. Below are a few symptoms:

  1. You ride your mountain bike in/on snow.

  2. You often go check on your bikes like a child. You just need to make sure they are OK.

  3. You're a straight man - and love Lycra.

  4. You actually convince your significant other that it is a necessity rather than a passion.

  5. You have a secret bike account. (Julie- if you are reading this, I'm just messin' around)

The Bounce....

So, I was recently promoted to a new roll here at Omniture and am very proud of the new roll and responsibilities that come with it. I have worked very hard to get to were I am and plan on continuing that work ethic in the future.

Now that I have that out of the way, as a Manager of Financial Planning & Analysis does that mean I have to stop listening to JayZ / AKA Jigga / AKA Hova? I hope not because today I undocked my computer and headphones to go to a meeting and forgot I was 'BOUNCIN' to JayZ Blueprint Volume 2 - The Bounce ---------- OOOOPS!

As 'Jigga' would say -

“No matter where you go, you are what you are playa”

Why I love Friday

So, it was Friday May 1st and the bell was about to ring, oh wait, I mean it was just about 5PM at the good ol' OMTR and I decided to skip out in favor of a quick (I always say quick although they are often times several hours - sorry Julie) mountain bike ride in Corner Canyon.  I rushed to my car, beamed to the Draper equestrian park (who knew an FJ could hit 100 mph), slapped on my church shoes (biking shoes) and headed up Clarke's Trail.

There was a light mist in the air from the dark clouds above but I figured if I hurried I could beat the rain.  I am getting pretty fast these days so I went for it.

I climbed Clarke's and began to bomb down Jacob's ladder and it hit!  It was pouring, my race car was sliding everywhere in the mud, and I had a ball.  I seriously felt like a little kid again playing in the mud. Little did I remember that I was 30.  The mud flew from the trail, to the tire and directly into my face.  My dad is mexican, but my mom blessed me with her fair skin so that day, here is to you Huge's (Hugo - my dad) I turned brown.  I have always had the chicano fire in my blood but on Friday - Yo era un completo soplado mexicano

Back to the ride,  I made it down that mountain in one piece, which is great due to the fact that there was not another crazy mountain biker on that damn trail to save me!

The Subject: Why I love Friday - (if it contains the word BIKE)
The Lesson: I love you dad and thanks for always making me proud of who I am.

The 2:12

So - Ricois30 blog starts today 4.28.2009 but it's going to have a few throw back stories that I want to catch up on.  Today's special is not Chicken Fried Steak, but rather a shout out to my girlfriend Ms. Julie Love and her accomplishment, The Salt Lake City 1/2 Marathon.

For those of you who don't know me, I am kind of an exercise FREAK!  Julie was not big into the 'active' scene but has officially given it a shot over the last 8 months of so.  She loves it - THANK GOD.

Anyway, she ran her first half marathon on April 18th, 2009 in 2:11 - yep 2:11 WOW.  Julie was joined by 4 of her friends (I mean our friends) and they all did wonderful!

Oh yeah, and it wouldn't be me if I didn't already ask her, "so when is your next one and what time are your shooting for" -  Mr. Competitive  would like to know.

To wrap it up, one of our friends (she ran the 1/2 as well) was recently diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis and I want you to know that determination, personal drive and bravery can overcome a supposedly crippling disease.  To you girl, you know who I am talking about,  I am proud of you.  Your love to live life is inspiring!
